Compared to rosewood it will be less brown but more of a reddish, almost blood-like tone though. So yeah, new Jatoba looks like ****, aged though it looks awesome. Hey guys, I just picked up a 4/4 jatoba board that looks like itd be perfect for fretboards and necks. Ive noticed that most of the threads that I found in search that dealt with jatoba only said it would be good for neck laminants, but none say anything about using it for an entire neck or or fr Fingerboards throughout this series of instruments will use jatoba to replace rosewood. Jatoba is a wood found in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America, and is commonly called Brazilian Cherry due to its appearance. I got a Jatoba fretboard and dont know anything.

So I've been seeing this "Jatoba" material a lot more lately, especially in mid-tier basses. I can't seem to find much online about it being used as a fretboard material other than people talking about the color, which I could care less about. From a visual point of view I don't actually mind the fairly prominent wood grains at all, and the fretboard still feels perfectly smooth and nice to play on (maybe even slightly smoother than my rosewood fretboards), and the darker color than usually seen in Jatoba wood actually is even a plus for me from a visual point of view, just worried if it might be an indication that the quality of I read somewhere that a guy had a jatoba fretboard on one of his guitars, and when it was exposed to a lot of sunlight, it got darker. Anyone had any similar experience or comment on this? I got a Jatoba fretboard and dont know anything. I saw a member of the Strokes commenting that there was no more room for blues rock any more, followed by "please, no more of that." I dyed a cheapo rosewood fretboard with black stain before, worked pretty good. Just clean it with some rubbing alcohol before you stain it Also, people tend to say you should sand it lightly before you apply the stain but I found that the stain tends to stick to the scratched surface on the binding and fret markers and it's quite a pita to clean it off again.
